1. Check In/Check Out
Check-in is at/after 2pm on arrival Saturday. Check-out is by 10 a.m. sharp on departure Saturday to ensure that cleaning service has time to clean prior to incoming guests' arrival.
Keys will be in a lockbox that is attached to a deck post directly opposite the front door. The 4 digit code will be set to 1010 (cottage address number). Upon arrival at the cottage anytime at/after 2pm, just retrieve the keys from the lockbox. At the end of your stay, please leave the door UNLOCKED with keys on the table.
While blankets and pillows are provided, guests need to provide their own sheets/pillow cases (some prefer to bring their own pillows), as well as beach/bath towels.
4. No-Party Policy
There is a firm no-party policy at the cottage.
Family pets are permitted with prior approval from cottage owner as long as they are well house trained and will not damage furniture via biting, scratching, etc. All pets must be treated with flea prevention application (i.e. Advantage, etc - NOT just a flea collar) and all pet debris removed from the yard (i.e. please practice poop n' scoop). The cottage owner does not take responsibility for allergies or other conditions arising at the cottage as a result of pets.
6. Household equipment
The renters agrees to use the inventory and equipment in a safe and responsible manner. Any breakage or damage to inventory, equipment or any other part of cottage property, above and beyond normal "wear and tear" may result in a charge to the guest.
7. Perishable Items
Guests are required to provide their own perishable items. Upon departure, all perishable items are to be removed from the cottage (i.e. leftover shampoo/soap, fridge items, etc.).
8. Septic System
The cottage uses a Septic System. Only toilet paper & regular bodily waste is to be flushed down the toilet. All feminine hygiene products, BABY WIPES, paper towel, cotton balls, etc. are to be disposed of in garbage and not in the toilet. Flushing any non-permitted items down the toilet will result in the septic system not working and renter will be responsible for the charge to repair to proper working order.
9. Smoke Free Cottage
This is a SMOKE FREE cottage, absolutely no smoking indoors. If smoking occurs outside, please dispose of all cigarette butts in an outdoor, fire-proof container for the duration of the stay, and later dispose of them with the garbage at check-out.
10. Garbage, Re-Cycle & Compost
Garbage, re-cycle and compost pick-up occurs every Friday. Bins are provided for each. Please ensure that everything is set out at the curb by 9 a.m. Friday. If garbage/compost is set out the night before, it will be torn apart by raccoons through the night, so please take out in the morning instead of the night before. As departure day is Saturday, there will be 1 day's worth of garbage/re-cycle remaining, which is renter's responsibility to dispose of. There are garbage bins down the road on Golden Beach Road at Santa's Village campgrounds (in parking lot area on the left/campground side of road) where you can dispose of any remaining garbage and recycling.
11. Pre-Paid Cleaning Services
Renters pay $100 for a professional cleaning service to clean the cottage on departure day to ensure a constant high standard of cleanliness. While the cleaning service will sanitize floors, bathroom and fixtures, windows, kitchen surfaces, etc., it is necessary for guests to remove all items brought to the cottage. Guests are responsible for the removal of all food products, perishable items, personal belongings, and garbage & recycling before final departure. Dishes/cutlery must be washed and put away in cupboards. A full check-out list is provided at the cottage to guide guests in this process.
12. Accidental Damage
Renters must notify owners immediately of any accidental damage to the cottage (i.e. stalled water pump from power outage, property damage from windstorm, etc.).
