1. Check In/Check Out
Check-in is at/after 4 pm pm arrival day. Check-out is at 10 a.m. on departure Saturday to ensure that cleaning service has time to clean prior to next incoming guests' arrival.
The door will be unlocked just prior to your arrival so that you can arrive at your leisure at/after 4pm and just let yourself in. The keys will be hanging on a little hook on the wall just inside the back kitchen/garden doors. At the end of your stay, please leave the door UNLOCKED with keys on the hook.
All beds will be made up with freshly laundered linens for all incoming guests.
4. No-Party Policy
There is a firm no-party policy at the cottage.
Family pets are permitted with prior approval from cottage owner as long as they are well house trained and will not damage furniture or window screens via biting, scratching, etc. All pets must be treated with a current flea prevention application (i.e. Advantage, etc - NOT just a flea collar) and all pet debris removed from the yard (i.e. please practice poop n' scoop). We cannot take responsibility for allergies or other conditions arising at the cottage as a result of pets.
6. Household equipment
Guests agree to use all furnishings and equipment in a safe and responsible manner. Any breakage or damage to appliances, furniture or any other part of cottage property, above and beyond normal "wear and tear" may result in a charge to the guest.
7. Perishable Items
Guests are required to provide their own perishable items. Upon departure, all perishable items are to be removed from the cottage (i.e. leftover shampoo/soap, fridge items, etc.).
8. Septic System
The cottage uses a Septic System. Only toilet paper & regular bodily waste is to be flushed down the toilet. All feminine hygiene products, make-up wipes or BABY WIPES (even if the packaging indicates "flushable" - they are not), paper towel, cotton balls, etc. are to be disposed of in garbage and not in the toilet. Flushing any non-permitted items down the toilet will result in the septic system backing up and guests will be responsible for the charge to repair to proper working order.
9. Smoke Free Cottage
This is a SMOKE FREE cottage, absolutely no smoking indoors. If smoking occurs outside, please dispose of all cigarette butts in an outdoor, fire-proof container for the duration of the stay, and later dispose of them with the garbage at check-out.
10. Garbage, Re-Cycle & Compost
Garbage, re-cycle and compost pick-up occurs every Friday. Bins are provided for each. Please ensure that everything is set out at the curb by 9 a.m. Friday. If garbage/compost is set out the night before, it will be torn apart by raccoons through the night, so please take out in the morning instead of the night before. Guests are asked to bag up all remaining garbage and recycling (bags provided for both). There are garbage bins down the road on Golden Beach Road at Santa's Village campgrounds (in parking lot area on the left/campground side of road) where you can dispose of any remaining garbage and recycling.
11. Pre-Paid Cleaning Services
Guests pay $100 for a professional cleaning service to clean the cottage on departure day to ensure a constant high standard of cleanliness. While the cleaning service will sanitize floors, bathroom and fixtures, windows, kitchen surfaces, etc., it is necessary for guests to remove all items brought to the cottage. Guests are responsible for the removal of all food products, perishable items, personal belongings, and garbage & recycling before final departure. Dishes/cutlery must be washed and put away in cupboards. A full check-out list is provided at the cottage to guide guests in this process.
12. Accidental Damage
Guests must notify hosts immediately of any accidental damage to the cottage (i.e. stalled water pump from power outage, property damage from windstorm, etc.).
