Amazing sandy beach location, all day sun: This is a fantastic beach for walking, clamming, etc. When the tide is out, it is out several hundred yards. The beach is almost entirely sandy (not at all muddy or silty), with a few places of smaller rocks for some interesting tidal pools - you can go barefoot. In the summer the tidal pools are like bathwater. You can see the sunrise and sunset all year long. The ferries from Edmonds/Kingston are visible, as well as all the shipping traffic from Seattle (cargo, cruise ships, Clipper to Victoria, etc). Seals, sea otters, and eagles are seen on a daily basis. Seals sit on the rocks a few hundred yards out.

Top quality mattresses and linens, immaculate: ALL mattresses are brand new top of the line Beautyrest mattresses purchased in March 2011. Linens are 300 thread count or above. One California King, one Standard Kng, 3 Queens, 1 Full, and two Twins, and one Queen sleeper with plush memory foam mattress in media room, which transforms into a sixth bedroom with full privacy if needed. A maximum of 12 people are allowed- no extra people or day visitors greater than 12.

FUN! New game room has 8' slate Connelly pool table, professional foosball, and airhockey, along with a beverage fridge, and barstools. Or use the XBOX Kinect in the upstairs media room, with 46' TV and surround sound.

Location Description

This lovely beachfront home offers kayaking, swimming, wading, crabbing and clamming right in front of the house. Facing south toward Mt Rainier, enjoy the pink alpenglow on the Rainiers while watching the sunset tuck behind the mountains to the west, the Olympic Range. Birdlife and water mammals abound, a perfect place for every season. Just a short drive away are the quaint villages of Langley, Clinton, and Coupeville. Whidbey Island is a large island and has so much to offer visitors, from wine-tasting to whale watching, beaches to farmers markets, art studios to old fashioned movie theaters, hiking and kayaking. The best place to start exploring Whidbey Island is in the historic fishing village of Langley, which is just 10 minutes from your beach house. Langley is a compact little village with a mix of sophisticated shops, interesting art galleries, and good, moderately priced restaurants occupying restored wooden commercial buildings along the waterfront. Four miles northwest of Freeland, South Whidbey State Park (tel. 360/902-8844), has almost a mile of shoreline, hiking trails through some old-growth forest, and a campground. Whidbey Island Greenbank Farm was known for its loganberry liqueur, and today, in the farm's tasting room, you can still sample loganberry wine, as well as other wines from around the region. Further north, you'll find Coupeville, another historic waterfront village. The quiet charm of yesteryear is Coupeville's greatest appeal, and many of its old wooden commercial buildings now house antiques stores and specialty shops, including amazing ice cream. At the end of the Coupeville Wharf, you can see the skeleton of Rosie the gray whale, which hangs from the ceiling of the building.
