Property Description

Our rustic and entirely cedar built cottage overlooks Kawawaymog Lake and the forested hills of Almaguin Highlands. We are located just outside the northwest boundary to Algonquin Provincial Park and our lake is access point # 1 on the official Algonquin Park Canoe Route map. The cottage is nestled among a beautiful mixture of mature trees typical of Ontario's north. To enjoy a stay at our cottage is to experience nature at its best.

This cottage has a large wrap around deck on the lakeside that is open to warm afternoon sunshine and affords a stunning view of the lake. Steps built into the sloping hillside lead to the waterfront and dock where the lake bottom is firm and sandy and a shallow entry allows for safe swimming, canoeing and fishing.

The open concept living room and kitchen are warmed and brightened by a woodstove and propane lights. The kitchen is fully equipped with a fridge, stove, double sink and all the utensils, dishes, pots and pans you will require. The three bedrooms are cozy with warm quilts and duvets for cooler Canadian nights. Two of the rooms have queen beds while the third has two twin beds. Each room has a window with a unique view peeking out to the surrounding woods. A very clean and nicely decorated outhouse sits among the trees only a few meters from the cottage. The inside bathroom is equipped with a pedestal sink and bathtub. If you dare there is an outdoor shower!

Paddle from our dock to the meandering Amable du Fond River that flows into Algonquin Park's North Tea Lake. You may encounter some wildlife! Our cottage sits a top a hill on two beautifully wooded acres. Western exposure guarantees spectacular sunsets after those glorious sunny days.

We love to meet travelers from outside Canada or those who share a passion for nature. This cabin has no electricity and limited cell coverage. It is a retreat with sufficient comfort that ensures your stay is relaxing but rustic. Enjoy!

Location Description

Our cottage is located a half hour from the village of South River or travel south an hour and 15 minutes from the cottage door and find yourself in beautiful downtown Huntsville in the heart of Muskoka. If you travel north on Highway 11 you can visit North Bay Ontario. Take Highway 124 from the town of Sundridge and you arrive in Parry Sound with the big water of Georgian Bay. Visit the interior of Algonquin Park by paddling to the mouth of the Amable Du Fond River. If you canoe or kayak the river you will be delighted by the pristine surroundings as you arrive at North Tea Lake - a two hour paddle away if you dare.
