Architect-designed house on beautiful secluded tidal cove on very quiet road. The living area consists of a spacious living room, and a large dining area. There is a gas fireplace for chilly fall evenings. In warmer weather, the sliding glass wall opens up to the screened porch, creating one giant open living area. We love to cook, and the kitchen is exceptionally well equipped, including a six-burner stove. An island with a bar with stools encourages hanging around to chat with the cooks. The large porch has a dining table, as well as comfortable wicker chairs and a daybed that sleeps (or naps) two people.
The house has two double bedrooms on the first floor, each with fantastic views, and its own door to outside. The master bath has a tub with views to the cove. A seating area outside the master bedroom provides a lovely private spot for morning coffee. A second floor "treehouse" provides 360-degree views of the cove and the woods. It is furnished with a day bed that converts to two twins or a king, and has a half bath. The treehouse has visual but not aural privacy, as the stairwell is not sealed off from the downstairs. Kids love it!
Steps lead down to the rocks of the cove, where one can swim at high tide, or roast marshmallows over a fire. Because it is a sheltered cove, the water is warmer than is usual in Maine, albeit still plenty refreshing! There is a sailboat sandbox for children to enjoy.
We live down the road, and this house is primarily used by our family and friends, so it is equipped with pretty much everything one would need: Laundry room with washer and dryer; outdoor grill; beach towels and toys; kids' bikes; life-jackets; books; games; etc.
Midcoast Maine is the most beautiful part of this beautiful state, and there are abundant restaurants and activities within a half-hour drive.
