"Vartakooin Doone" (which means 'The Pink House' in Armenian) was built in 1890. It is one of dozens of very pretty little cottages in the village of Bayside, with fine views across Penobscot Bay.
The cottage is bright, filled with light and full of charm, with antique furniture, local artists' paintings, a lovely porch and a delightful deck off the main bedroom.
The modern kitchen is fully equipped: a beautifully restored 1960s stove/oven, a microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer. Olive oil, salt, pepper, spices and other condiments are available for your use.
Please note the sleeping arrangements: two bedrooms with full/double beds and one bedroom with a single/twin bed.
Outside there's a small grassy yard, a unique rock garden and a gas grill. Bayside village started as a religious camp in the 1800s and gradually grew into a beautiful little village of gingerbread cottages. It's the sort of place where families come back year after year. Friendships are forged and renewed every summer.
There are no businesses in the village itself. Social life revolves around porches, the parks, the dock and the Yacht Club, which must be the humblest, most laid-back yacht club on the eastern seaboard.
The cottage is fully winterized and is available for rent all year round. Winter in Bayside is peaceful and beautiful!
