Rustic two-story 1850s farmhouse-style attached apartment converted from a former lobsterman's workshop. Wide plank (some squeaky) floors throughout, narrow steep stairway, ideal for those looking for authentic Maine island charm. Old-fashioned glider out front next to rhododendron and rose bush gets morning sun exposure. So quiet with the sound of rustling leaves and seagulls. One TempurPedic double bed and two comfy twin beds in separate room. Apartment is in great residential location near Historical Society up on the hill for easy walking to Main Street restaurants, shops, and ferry. Near water, but not on water, with limited Carvers Cove views from upstairs bedrooms. Good neighborhood for walking, great harbor views from nearby Blueberry Lane overlook. Walk to breathtaking Lane's Island Preserve or rent bikes and kayaks in town. This is not a good choice for people who are expecting a modern "fancy" place. There aren't electric outlets and switches on every wall in every room for instance, but there are plenty of lamps, books, games and the kitchen is well-stocked including lobster pot, coffee maker, and toaster. The owners might be in the connected house while you are here but are a quiet couple and there is no open access between spaces. You have your own entryway. We provide bedding and towels. No pets, please. There is wi-fi, reception best on first floor, but no landline phone or TV. AT&T has cell towers on the island and is the best choice for cell service. Maximum occupancy is two adults. Will also consider an infant or small child with parents. Note: rate shown and minimum three-night stay is for summer. We are open to nightly stays at lower rates for May and also mid-September thru October. Contact us.
