Property Description

Fisherman's Cove is a delightful family friendly cottage with shore access and an oceanside screened porch within minutes walking distance to the famous Pemaquid Point lighthouse. An English inspired country garden welcomes you: perennials explode with a riot of color and play host to many species of butterflies. The cottage fronts on John's Bay with western exposure offering 180 degree views. Don't miss our spectacular sunsets and the bustle of morning lobster boats...look for the seals and porpoises that sometimes venture past.

A warm cozy interior, with pine clad living room comfortably decorated, features a charming wood stove and dining table seating six. There are four bedrooms, two with a double bed each. Ascend the ship's ladder stairs leading up to a semi private loft space with dormer windows furnished with two twin and one double bed. Soft sounds of surf and wafting ocean breezes will lull you to sleep. For the kids there is a bunk room with 2 sets of bunk beds. A full size eat in kitchen opens onto the living room and is abundantly supplied with amenities: refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, blender, toaster, dishes and utensils. Off the entrance to cottage your will find the laundry area with washer and dryer. WIFI and telephone are included. The full bath is equipped with a tub and shower.

Outdoors, check out the new gas grill and two propane burner ring units for grilling up delicious steaks and boiling lobster and corn for your own seaside clambake. Outdoor tables, chairs and loungers are provided. Enjoy ocean side reading and relaxing on the screened in porch or venture down to the water's edge in the cove using the convenient waterside stairs. Kids will love exploring the saltwater ponds at low tide and climbing over the rocks to find sea glass and shell treasures.

Please no smoking at Fisherman's Cove. We will consider well behaved pets by prior agreement.

Fisherman's Cove is a great home base from which to enjoy all that the Pemaquid and Midcoast region has to offer:

Hardy Boat Cruises: Enjoy Maine by sea, with its salt air and cool breezes. Choose from Puffin Watch, Seal Watch, Sunset Light House Cruises or a day-trip to Monhegan Island... must do excursions on a visit to the Maine coast. On Monhegan Island bring a picnic (or buy sandwiches, pizza and drinks) and hike to the cliffs on far side of island. Build a home for the forest knomes of the Cathedral Woods. Wear comfortable walking gear as there are no paved roads.....a throw back in time! Art galleries are open by chance in the village. The Lighthouse Museum is interesting and worth poking around to see local lore of the sea. In May and September bird migration is tops! Bring binoculars....trail guides are provided by Hardy Boat........On previous trips we have seen whales, porpoises, seals, and a large variety of birds, including the bald eagles which have returned to Maine.

Fort William Henry: Fabulous must see spot for the historian in you! Discover early colonial life in northern New England. This early settlement provided cod for Europeans in the 1600's and made this an important British claim. The Museum is rich with artifacts...visit the ancient grave yard...if you dare! The area is handicap accessible with picnic benches and panoramic view of Pemaquid Harbor. Order a lunch from Riley's Market at the Deli section or from The Cupboard Restaurant on the Huddle Road and enjoy a picnic.

Pemaquid Beach: Love this cresent shaped beach with fine views of John's Bay and islands. Relax, walk and collect shells....Fine white sand, excellent for making sand castles or burying your feet. Snack bar is a must. French fries and a cold drink make it heaven. Fall asleep under an umbrella listening to the waves. Feeling adventurous? Rent a boogie board and ride the waves if the surf is up. Beach-comb for treasures. Hot showers till 5. Special concerts, fireworks, yoga in the mornings . Park is open till sunset. Minimum fee to enter. Plenty of parking beach lovers delight!

Bristol Dam Swimming Hole:
Enjoy some good old fashioned swimming fun where generations of kids of all ages have cooled off on a hot summer day. Located just off Route 130 in the village of Bristol...roadside parking available.

Granite Hall Store:
Remember penny candy?!?!...venture over to the village of Round Pond and visit this landmark. Gifts, crafts toy and antiques provide a backdrop to an old fashioned candy counter.....fill a bag with confectionery delights or enjoy and ice cream cone....a great rainy day excursion.

The Pemaquid region has many restaurants and cafes to choose from...try out some of our favourites!! The Bradley Inn for fine dining, the Pemaquid Co-op for lobster, the Cupboard or the Seagull Shop for breakfast, Coveside at Christmas Cove for their infamous Bloody Mary or Dark n Stormy. Venture into the nearby town of Damariscotta with a quaint main street for great shopping and many restaurant options. Visit Boothbay, Camden or the outlet shops of Freeport all a short drive away.
