Property Description

2,100sf of dramatic lofted spaces under the grand beams and barrel ceiling of a former church. Airy, open, multi-level, beautifully furnished, high-end finishes and amenities. Minutes to the Old Port, downtown, Eastern Prom, West End.

This is a new remodel of an old church, but a rather humble one. There's nothing cathedral-like by any stretch of the imagination; instead it's a charming, New England-y white clapboard structure with the original large, peaked windows and a soaring barrel ceiling. Our home is one of two condo units that split the church.

The living room, office, and kitchen/dining room all flow into each other on a series of levels and mezzanines, just a relatively few steps apart. The stairs are all generously proportioned with handrails and spot lighting near ground level.

Each of the three bedrooms is on its own level, and while the rest of the home is an open floor plan, these are proper bedrooms with plenty of space and privacy. Each bedroom has a very comfortable, high-quality queen-sized bed. All bedding is high threadcount cotton, some organic, and there are plenty of pillows, blankets, throws, and comforters to go around.

Both full bathrooms are very special. The enormous master bath has a large tub and a separate glass-walled shower with a rainfall showerhead as well as a handheld. There is a Japanese (Toto) bidet-style toilet that we had installed after experiencing it in someone's home when we were traveling. You just might get hooked too. The second bathroom has a pedestal sink, a walk-in shower (also rainfall and handheld) and was hand-tiled with river stones. Towels are all plush cotton bath sheets.

2 of the bedrooms have flat screen TVs and the living room features a third, larger flat screen with a DVD player and access to all streaming services. All have Time Warner cable with premium movie channels and sports packages. The WIFI is flawless and fast.

Outside there is a good-sized deck with (when it's not winter!) a Weber Grill, a dining table seating four, and an umbrella. In the coldest months we leave a single chair for those who like relaxing in the cold.

The whole place is available for you to enjoy. In warm weather there's an outdoor grill on the deck for barbecues and 2 adult-sized bicycles in the garage that you are welcome to use.

The garage itself will most likely be occupied by our own vehicle during your stay. But even without access to the garage two cars can be parked comfortable. A third can be managed if you're creative, and safe on street parking is available just across the street.

Note that we have not defined discounts for weekly or longer rentals. We will consider an appropriate discount for weekly and beyond rentals during the following periods when we are normally traveling ourselves: mid-September to early November, January and February, and late March to mid May. Feel free to ask. During the prime summer months, we prefer shorter (4 or 5 night) stays because your vacation in our home will be combined with a pleasurable jaunt elsewhere of our own!
