Property Description

This is a renovated duplex apartment located in the heart of Mt. Pleasant. It has a cozy cottage feel with an outdoor shower and private fenced in back yard. Dogs allowed, bring the whole family! Bike and walk most anywhere; bikes provided! Don't just stay here, feel what it's like to live here! Only a 15 minute walk to the restaurants and activities of Shem Creek. Less than a mile to the boat launch. Centrally located; just 6 miles to the beautiful beaches of Sullivan's Island, and 6 miles to historic downtown Charleston. This is one side of a renovated duplex in a quiet, established neighborhood located in the heart of Mt. Pleasant. It is not on a through street, which means that is has little traffic. The street loops around to Shem Creek less than a block away, which makes for a short, picturesque walk.
The duplex was built in 1960. It is made out of brick and has a classic, simple feel to it, but is by no means perfect. We recently completed a number of renovations which included landscaping, painting inside, all new furniture, a large patio in the back yard, marble tile in the bathroom, and a beautiful, fully enclosed, outdoor shower. It has its own private fenced in back yard that is HUGE, and perfect for dogs.
There are two bedrooms, each has two windows for plenty of sunlight. One bedroom is tile, and a queen bed. The other has bunk beds, a double bed, and wood floors. The rest of the house has solid teak floors that are just beautiful (at least we think so)! We have two sofas in the living area that encompass a wall mounted TV. The bathroom has solid marble tile floors and bead board siding. It is a comfortably sized galley kitchen that includes a regular size stove, refrigerator, and dishwasher. Teak floors adorn the kitchen as well. At some point we look forward to upgrading the cabinets and counter tops. Currently they are clean and functional, although a bit dated. The other side of the duplex is a short term rental as well and each has its own private entrance with a screened in porch. They also both have their own private, fenced in back yard. This Unit is slightly more expensive due to the larger sized kitchen with a dishwasher and other recent updates.
It is conveniently located less than a mile from Shem Creek. We could write a small book on all that Shem Creek and the local area has to offer. We have two little boys, a Giant Schnauzer, and we love going out to eat and sampling some of the world class restaurants the Charleston area has to offer (with and without kids and dog.) We love sharing what we have discovered whether you are looking for things to do with your kids, dogs, or need some adult time. Just ask! We moved here 4 years ago and still feel like we are on vacation. Oh, we also have two beach cruisers for you to use, included in the rental. Our favorite way to explore the area is on bikes, so we wanted to share that with our guests. Sullivan's island and downtown Charleston are both roughly 6 miles in opposite directions on the same road with bike paths the whole way to each. Depending on how adventurous you are, you can head out the front door and be on the beach, or enjoying all that downtown Charleston has to offer without ever getting in your car. There are also water taxis downtown if you do not want to ride the bridge. Again, just ask, we have information on all of that.
Within an 8 minute walk out the front door there is a Starbucks and a host of great places to eat, shop, or grab a drink. We keep a lockbox on the door. We will give you the code prior to check in. This unit is the A side, on the right. It has it's own private entrance through a screened in porch. The backyard also has it's own private entrance from the driveway. It is fully enclosed with a privacy fence. There is also a door from the kitchen leading to the patio and backyard. You have access to the entire house. Feel free to explore the cabinets and drawers, everything there if for you to use. If guests leave cooking supplies or non perishables behind we leave them for other guests to use. That way you are not running to the store for ketchup or olive oil at the last minute.
