Property Description

Whether you are coming to Charleston on business or for a sun-filled vacation, our new three-bedroom Charlestonian will make you feel at home with all the conveniences you could hope for. Our oak-lined neighborhood is a short 15-minute drive to downtown Charleston, and about 25 minutes to the beaches. We are located in North Charleston, about ten minutes from the airport, Tanger Shopping Outlet, and the North Charleston Coliseum and Performing Arts Center, a well-known venue for concerts, plays and ballet.

We live in a revitalized, young residential area that was voted “Neighborhood of the Year” in 2009. It is family-friendly and safe. There is lots of free street-side parking and a car porch behind the house. The Old North Charleston village, just a 10-minute walk away, boasts several casual and fancier restaurants that have become favorites for Charlestonians. Park Circle, a five-minute walk from the house, is a favorite jogging track for locals, and at Christmastime, the lights and decorations are sure to charm children and the young at heart.

Our home

Come in through our front porch, where you can relax in the rocking chairs and admire the many trees in the neighborhood, or have a chat with our friendly neighbors. Our living room, which we have decorated in a fresh, beachy style, offers a king size armchair and ottoman, and two large, comfortable sofas. With the flip of a switch, you can light our gas-log fireplace to make the room even cozier while enjoying your favorite series on Netflix or watching a DVD. Sorry, we are not connected to a television provider.

The spacious living room gives onto the dining room, which comfortably seats six, and our open kitchen, which boasts granite counters and new kitchen appliances, makes fixing a family meal or just having a snack at the counter a real pleasure. You are welcome to use the washer and dryer in the adjoining laundry room. Instructions for use will be left inside. The sunroom, which we use as an open bureau, looks out on our back yard and patio. We will leave you our Wi-Fi password and you may use our printer.

Upstairs, our home features three bedrooms and two full bathrooms. The master bedroom, which gives onto a Charlestonian-style porch overlooking the oaks and a row of lovely new townhomes, has a king bed and a private bathroom with bath/shower. The two guestrooms have queen beds and offer a view of our flowered back summer, spring and fall. The guestrooms share a bathroom with tub/shower.

Our home can be rented weekly or monthly during extended periods during the year.

Renters must be a minimum of 25 years of age. Persons under 25 must be accompanied by an adult, parent or guardian during their stay.

Sorry, pets are not allowed; nor is smoking inside or outside the house .

Meeting with Guests

This is our primary Stateside residence, and as we try to travel half the year, we might not be in Charleston on the dates you have chosen. Our daughter and her husband, who live nearby, will be there to show you around and probably introduce you to our friendly next-door neighbors.

House Rules First, thanks for thinking of our home for your stay in Charleston. As hosts, we will do our best to make your visit a memorable one. Below are a few house rules that we will ask you to honor. Please note that this is a residential home—it really is our family home!

No pets

No smoking

No parties or extra guests

No burning candles

No excessive outside noise: please respect our neighbors’ sleep, work schedules, and their children’s naptimes!

Check-in is at 4:00 p.m., and check-out at 12:00 p.m. You can drop off bags earlier as long as we coordinate prior to your arrival. We will do our best to accommodate your arrival and departure times.

White furniture: Although we love children, our living room furniture really is not very conducive to children snacking. Please do not let your child have his chocolate ice cream cone on our white sofa! We have a few slipcovers that we will make easily visible.

Linens: The beds will be made up and extra sheets and comforters provided for just in case. An extra set of sheets and blankets will be available for the sofa downstairs. Towels, dishtowels and two hairdryers will be provided.

The kitchen: You are welcome to use our spices and condiments that are in the cupboards. Please leave untouched whatever might be in the freezer.

Trash: Gray trash pickup (you will find trash bags under the island counter in the kitchen) is Tuesday morning. Please place these trash bags in the gray bin on wheels closer to the street Monday night. Blue trash for re-cycling (glass, cans, plastics and paper) is collected every other Thursday. You may put trash for re-cycling directly in the blue bin (no need for a trash bag).

Carpeted bedrooms: As is often the case here, the bedrooms are carpeted. Please remove your shoes before going upstairs.

Clean-up: You may leave sheets on the beds, but please place soiled towels in the bathtubs. Before leaving, make sure that no trash is left in the house, that dishes are washed, and the dishwasher is empty.

Security reminder: Ours is known to be a quiet, safe neighborhood, but do not tempt strangers by leaving valuables in clear view of the street or back yard. When you go out, always lock house doors, close the windows, and lock your car.
