We have catchment water, it is double filtered and UV lighted and safe to drink. Most of Puna is on catchment water and the pump can be heard when it gets pumped from tank to house some times. The hot water is on solar and enough for people showering, but not enough for full baths (tub). Someone lives upstairs with a small dog, and the downstairs apartment is separate with access to the beautiful yard. This is a home with 1 resident upstairs, and not a 5 star hotel. This is rain forest area. Expect things you would not have at home. It is clean and comfortable, screened windows. Quick access to rt 130 also lots of coqui frogs singing. Everything is within close distance, shops in Pahoa, Kalapana and Uncle Roberts wednesday nights, snorkeling at Kapoho is world class. Hilo is less than half hour drive, and of course Maku'u Farmers market on sundays. Puna does not have sandy beaches but there are warm ponds, places to swim and world class snorkeling, ask host where to go, it is all very close to us and he likes photography so knows all the good spots.
