Down the road from the cabin is the Ontonagon River with some viewing areas off the trail system and off the highway, etc. The Ontonagon River comes from Cisco Lake (just down Cisco Lake Road from the cabin driveway) which is part of the Cisco Chain (15 lakes). Then, the Ontonagon River goes through a variety of terrain and has a beautiful waterfall called Kakabika Falls. Other waterfalls in area also such as Yondota (West of cabin), Bond and others. The Ottawa National Forest is behind the cabin and along areas by the cabin. Out the driveway is the trail system for fourwheeling (ORV ATV UTV) and snowmobiling (sledding). And, much more in the area.
Boat landing on Cisco Lake that was plowed (as of previous info.) to go ice fishing with equipment and or snowmobile or ATV (off trailer). Other places to ice fish. Mapbooks in cabin to use during your stay.
Ice skating in an area town. Dog sled races in early February 3-4, 2018. Great variety of restaurants. Restaurant guides in cabin to use. Fishing contests and tournaments in area. Rental equipment in area for canoes, kayaks, skis, snowmobiles, ATVs, UTVs, paddleboards, bikes, boats and more. Your group could enjoy Winter with ice fishing, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, tubing, fat tire biking, siteseeing, hunting, relaxing, ice skating, etc.

Cross Country Skiing and Snowshoe Trails: Sylvania area has approximately ten groomed loops of some of the most scenic traditional cross country ski trails. Snowshoeing. Other trails in area by Lake Gogebic, West of cabin, etc.
Use plastic sleds (not snowmobiles), tubes, sledding sleds by the cabin (on the hill), charcoal some food on the grill, have a drink and watch the snow, see the stars in the sky. Then snuggle into the cabin with friends.
There was an old time cabin just north of the cabin called Stickley Lodge. There are many old time logging, mining and gangster stories. History of the Stickley furniture designs and company.

VISITOR CENTER: Visitor Center (government) in Watersmeet has movies-presentations every so often on wildlife-birds-trees-bears-wolves-etc. Visitor Center has displays, maps on the area, gift shop with fun items for adults and children, Christmas Tree permit information. There is also a Forestry Department (in a separate building close to the visitor center) for information on trails (or where you could ride off the trails such as for lower snow conditions, enjoying the National Forest and more).

*Access and Conveniences: Just down Cisco Lake Road to Cisco Chain of Lakes (15 lakes, this is the road named after the chain; west of the town of Watersmeet, MI; east of the town of Marenisco, MI; some maps show the cabin on the east side of Watersmeet which is incorrect); by Ottawa National Forest; down road from Ontonagon River Cisco Branch (Cisco Branch Ontonagon River comes from Cisco Chain and it is part of the Kakabika Falls just west of cabin on 527; Middle Branch Ontonagon east of cabin; easy access to main highway, Beatons Lake (circle driveway goes to Beatons Lake; look at map for lake access); Yondota Falls (outside of Marenisco, MI, take Cty Rd 523 north of town. The trailhead is just north of the bridge over Presque Isle River, hidden away in the trees. Once at the trailhead, hike down roughly 0.25 to 0.5 miles to see the waterfalls to your left.
