GPS doesn't work well near the cabin so don't rely on it. The cabin address is 3112 E. M-28, it's across the road from lake Superior, and located in wooded area down a dirt driveway. Approximately 31 miles from Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, 16 miles from Au Train, 12 miles from Harvey where US 41 & M-28 intersects, and 16 miles from Marquette. At the end of the driveway on M-28 there's a sign "COZY CAMP LOON" and address 3112. Across and a few yards from the driveway there is a lake opening with turnoff parking and public access for the beach. if still having trouble finding please call host at 859-412-6339
This is a beautiful and peaceful stretch of beach for your morning walk and Watch a beautiful sunset.
Wi-Fi and internet service. We also provide basic cable, and have a DVD player with a selection of movies. There are many activities with easy access to hike, bike, canoe, kayak, and take in the natural beauty of waterfalls directly off M28.
The cabin has two bedrooms. One has a queen bed and the other is a double size. There is a comfortable full size mattress on a futon in the living room and bedding provided. There are two cots with mattresses in the sunroom for more guests and only use if requested.
Recently installed electric baseboard heaters are in the bedrooms and main room. They each have a manual thermostat, but please remember to turn off when not needed (electricity is very expensive in our area), We also have fans in each room.
The cabin is filled with everything you'll need. We have a few beach chairs and toys for kids. We don't provide beach towels, so please don't use bathroom towels for outdoors.
The cabin provides a natural peaceful environment. Hwy M28 going east and west from the cabin offers easy access, and a beautiful drive to all the best area attractions. It's an awesome location that we are so happy to share with our guests
There are tourist information centers in both Marquette and Munising. The cabin will be filled with information as well. Ojibwa Casino is only a few Miles from cabin off M28. The casino is adding a new restaurant and venue for entertainment in 2017. Lakenenland Sculpture Garden Park is only 1 mile down M28, and is free to the public. There's a trail behind our cabin that you can walk or mountain bike over to Lakenenland. The Brown Stone Inn is a wonderful historical restaurant, and is approx. 12 miles east of the cabin off M28. It offers the best Friday night fish fry. Lake perch sells out fast, and they suggest calling for reservation and putting in your order. Saturday evenings they have prim rib that is another favorite. Deer Lake is on the same highway, and has a very nice public park and swimming beach. A nice place to swim when Superior is too cold, and have a picnic. Further east before Munising you'll find the best little town called Au Train. It has outfitter rental for kayak and canoes. It has a wonderful public beach that has the warm Au Train River running into Superior. Very popular swimming spot with nice public parking. It offers places for pasties, pizza, ice cream, and a general store. There are public access to several waterfalls off M28 between the cabin an Pictured Rocks National Park. There's a brochure list with directions and location of the falls that I provide in the cabin. Further east Lake Superior shoreline offers little gems like the historic town of Grand Maria, and the famous sand dunes (Log Slide Overlook). Remember going down this dune is fun but a bugger going back up. Nearby is White Fish Point lighthouse and museum, which provides history of famous shipwrecks, including the Edmund Fitzgerald that sunk in that area during a fierce November storm in 1975. Close by the museum is Tequanimum Falls State Park. The park offers walking trails, a gorgeous waterfall, and a microbrew restaurant to relax at during your visit.
West of the cabin is my hometown of Marquette. In 15 minutes you can enjoy wonderful restaurants, shopping, a lighthouse, parks, beaches, bike trails, and plenty of brewing pubs that offer entertainment. Make sure to visit Presque Isle park, it has the current ore dock that the huge ore boats use to load up the ships. You can drive around the island, walk, or bike. There's a popular break wall in the marina that has a beautiful view of Marquette and the world famous NMU wood dome.
I highly recommend a driving trip up the north west shore of Marquette county highway 550. It leads to public trails such as Sugar Loaf lookout, little Presque Isle Park, and Harlow Lake. Continue up to the historic town of Big Bay. This town is filled with so much history. The Big Bay Hotel was the place that a famous murder took place in 1952, and was the same site Jimmy Stewart stared in the movie "Anatiomy of a Murder". The hotel has a nice cafe and museum dedicated to the the movie, and another famous guest Henry Ford. The prestigious Huron Mountain Club is located in this same region, but is exclusive to members only. Look up "the secrets of Huron Mountain Club" for the rich history of this truly primitive location, and its world famous members. Henry ford was a member of this club, and he also had a mill factory here that produced the wood panels for the ford vehicles. You can see the abandoned mill from the hotel. Just past the hotel 550 turns in to a dirt road that ends at the Big Bay Lighthouse. It's a B&B now, but you can still tour the grounds and gardens. I tried to provide highlights of this area. It has so much more to offer than mentioned. During the Fall season it has spectacular colors to enjoy, and the cabin is open through October.
