Property Description

Cedar Lodge is a comfortable, clean 2-bedroom cedar log cabin on a quiet cul-de-sac in rural Angelus Oaks, CA, located at 6000 feet in the San Bernardino National Forest, just 45 minutes from Big Bear Lake and 25 minutes from Redlands on State Highway 38. Enter into a large, open living room/dining room/kitchen area with a rock fireplace (firewood is provided). Satellite TV, telephone, and wifi service are available. The kitchen is furnished with microwave, stove/oven, refrigerator, with cookware, utensils, blender, crockpot, and linens. Breakfast menu items are provided, along with some beverages and snacks. One bedroom has a double standard bed, the other has a queen-size bed which can be modified to 2 twin beds (beds are made and ready for your arrival, provided with linens, electric blankets, quilts, pillows); a rollaway bed and a queen-size air mattress are available as well. The bathroom has a tub/shower combo, toilet, sink; linens, soap, shampoo, hairdryer are provided. A utility room houses a washer/dryer combo, with laundry soap provided; birdseed for the feeder on the front deck; iron; vacuum cleaner; garbage can, and fire starter materials for fireplace use. A large, front patio houses a gas barbecue, umbrella table/chairs. Includes a relaxing, scenic view, with bird- and critter-watching, sunset- and star-gazing activities, or sitting back to enjoy your morning coffee and plan your activities for the day. From here, you may decide to walk, bike, or drive to the local restaurant, The Oaks, and/or to the nearby trailhead to 10,459-ft. San Bernardino Peak. The peak is an 8-mile trek one way, with incredible views. (If you wish to hike beyond 2 miles of trail, you will need a wilderness permit from the USFS Ranger Station you pass coming up Highway 38 from Redlands.) Another popular hike to the peak of San Gorgonio Mountain (11,503 ft) can be accessed by driving 5 miles down Highway 38 to Forest Falls turnoff, and at the end of the canyon a trailhead leads hikers on a 17.3 mile hike through Vivian Creek to the peak. Other beautiful views are available walking out behind the parking lot of The Oaks and local U.S. Post Office on U.S. Forest Service road 1N12. The road is a popular 4WD adventure, and also has access to the 38-mile long Santa Ana River Trail for mountain bikers and hikers. Another route favored by mountain bikers and hikers is found on Mountain Home Creek Road. It runs from Angelus Oaks down the historical old control road to Mountain Home Village, a 6-mile journey one way. Other activities found locally are picnicking and/or fishing along the Santa Ana River or at Jenks Lake. Seven Oaks Resort on the Santa Ana River is a fun stop for lunch, weekend music, and dinner from April to October. Photographers and artists stay busy with the hourly, daily, and seasonal changes of light and shadow and color in this area. Winter sledding and snow-play are found locally; skiers and snowboarders drive another 35 miles up Highway 38 to resorts in Big Bear Lake for a day of fun and (most days) sun. During the late fall, winter, and early spring, it's wise to carry snow chains for possible changing weather conditions.
