Property Description

Bring in a gorgeous renovated barn on an organic micro-farm. Enjoy stunning views of Hood Canal and the Olympic Mountains, a major trail system, close access to 5 secluded beaches and the historic town of Port Gamble.

Sunny, rustic 900 sq. ft. loft includes full kitchen, full bath, one separate bedroom for two, bedroom nook with single or double trundle bed, separated with curtains from the large open space with sleeping accommodations for 2-6 more with futons and sofa bed.

This 1929-era chicken coop was renovated in to keep the original wood floors and walls. We've added modern touches, including a dishwasher, small stove and refrigerator.

Decor is original art and sculpture made by the owners, as well as a vintage photo collection of music and cultural icons. Curl up on the leather couch and down-filled cozy love seats. Wireless internet is provided, but no TV. Bring your own laptop to watch streaming movies, although we hope you'll unplug and watch the eagles and hawks soaring overhead.

A small deck with bistro table offers inspiring views, for an evening glass of wine and amazing sunsets over the Western mountain range.

Family-friendly

Kids over age 3 love to stay here, making good use of the crafts supplies, berry-picking and nature trails. Feel free to ask us to open up the ping-pong table! Because of the open floor plan, it may be harder for parents of very young children.

The open sleeping arrangements have worked well for youth groups, girlfriends' bachelorette and baby parties, small family reunions, and families in bereavement. People say that they really have bonded in a different way, being together in the space.

A natural paradise to soothe your soul

The big open sky here offers an ever-changing view. See gorgeous star-gazing in the night sky, with less competition from artificial light. Common wildlife sightings include pairs of eagles, red-tailed hawks perching in the trees, and hummingbirds; coyotes may serenade you, and wild bunnies are everywhere!

A sanctuary for the creative spirit

Filmmakers, writers, painters, musicians and performance artists have used the space for creative sabbaticals. Come curl up with a great book from our collection of mythology, spirituality, art, science fiction and fantasy titles. You may use our arts and crafts supplies to make a collage or watercolor. The lower level is a studio for sculpture, furniture-making, ginger beer brewing and writing.

Local organic flavor & color

If you are a foodie or enjoy local, organic foods, you'll enjoy walking our orchard, feeding the chickens your table scraps, or grazing from a rotating supply of fresh fruits and veggies in our large year-round vegetable gardens. We know several fabulous cooks who use all local organic ingredients. Just ask and we can set you up with a delicious, unique dining experience.

Ask to try a taste of our own micro-brew, Dr. Marvel's Ginger Brew, made here with organic ingredients (UPDATE: Summer 2017 - Sorry but we are temporarily out of Ginger Beer.) Or we may offer you a taste of homemade wine made with berries or fruit grown on the property.

Amazing trails for nature lovers

This former 40 acre farm offers large open spaces with private trails, forested glens and a beautiful spring. We'd love to show you our trail maps and point the way. Bring your mountain bike or walking shoes; our property adjoins a 4000 acre system of awesome marked hiking/biking trails for all levels of riders.

Getting to The Barn with a View:

Located 15 minutes from the Kingston-Edmonds ferry, and 35 minutes from the Bainbridge Island-Seattle ferry. A car is recommended for exploring the area, as there are only 4 daily busses here, from Poulsbo or Port Townsend, via Jefferson Transit. You could also get around with a bike.

From Sea-Tac airport, you have two choices: drive south via 1-5 to Tacoma, take WA-16 to Bremerton and then WA-3 to our place (about 1.5 hours, more with traffic). Or you can drive North to downtown Seattle and drive on the Bainbridge Island ferry ( about 1.5 hours, and around $15.00 one way.)

If you are using public transportation, you can take light rail to downtown Seattle and walk on the Bainbridge Island ferry. Kitsap Transit's #90 bus runs north to Poulsbo, where you can transfer to a Jefferson Transit bus (2 scheduled in the morning, 2 in the afternoon), or contact us for a possible pickup.
