This charming, rustic house sits in an idyllic setting on a 60-acre, spring-fed lake in a beautiful, quiet, wooded area that is sparsely populated. One side of the property borders the Tolland State Forest. Start your day with a fresh-brewed coffee on one of the sun-dappled decks overlooking the lake, and finish it with a soak in the hot tub or lounging in front of a cozy fire. The time of year and your personal interests help determine what to do in between.
In the summers, go swimming, canoeing, or fishing in the lake (a sunset canoe ride is the perfect time to see beavers splashing around their dams!). Enjoy picking blueberries, raspberries or black berries -- and maybe even peaches, if the beavers don't beat you to it). Spend time biking, or go walking, running, or hiking -- several entrances to the Appalachian Trail are just a short drive away. Visit farmer's markets, where you can buy locally raised, fresh vegetables, eggs, bread, jams, and other products. If culture is more your thing, take in the Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival or the music of Tanglewood, or one of the many museums in nearby towns.
In the winters, try your hand at sledding, ice fishing, or ice skating. Another short drive and you can be hitting the slopes for some skiing or snowboarding at Otis Ridge.
