Property Description

Located a mere 15-minute drive or 30-minute bus ride from downtown, Columbia City is Seattle's current place to be with organic grocery stores to reggae clubs and any kind of cuisine you may desire.

After making your way through my small yard, you immediately enter the library with two comfy, squat chairs next to a tree-root table. Did you notice the books are arranged by color? Take a moment and feel some aesthetic bliss then make your way up the first flight of stairs. The second floor allows for easy conversation while cooking in the kitchen, which is stocked with every appliance Williams Sonoma offered from 2003-2008. The dining room has a beautiful round table with four plush chairs and board games located underneath.

Comfortable white couches are located across from each other in the living room, allowing late-night chats or TV watching. The 43" TV is hidden in the mirrored cabinet so it can be put away after your 12-hour Netflix binge watch. Lounging around may give you a delusion of grandeur due to the glam style!

You'll find the two bedrooms upstairs on the third floor. You may be in better shape when you leave due to running up the flights of stairs. The smaller bedroom with an extremely comfortable queen bed is stocked with any amenities you may have forgotten at home, such as shampoo, deodorant, and disposable razors, and there's even a small TV.

The master bedroom is across a small landing. Filled with mirrored furniture, a huge padded headboard, and a California King bed, you'll feel like an old-time movie star! There's plenty of space in the closet and drawers if you like to unpack or tuck away your luggage.

Amenities available in the home are a Roku, Amazon Prime video, Netflix, DVDs in the library, hundreds of books (don't judge my love for trashy romance novels, if you please), and a Wii.

Columbia City isn't a neighborhood much traveled by tourists, but it's filled with great places a mere 10-minute walk from the home. There's also a new BBQ restaurant and a brewery located 3 minutes away you can hop over to for lunch or dinner. I recommend walking to the Columbia City bakery, driving to Seward Park, skipping to Full Tilt ice cream, and dragging yourself to Geraldine's Counter as soon as it opens to avoid the wait. You could easily spend a day in Columbia City by itself!

Also, head a little south to go to Kubota Gardens. It's a Japanese garden with Northwest fauna, and it's stunning. If you go in the fall, you may cry looking at all the trees and colored leaves. It's easily one of the most beautiful gardens in Seattle.

Let's get down to the best part: the food! Here's all the types of food that are available within a 1-2 mile radius: Vietnamese, Thai, American, Senegalese, Peruvian, Hawaiian (poke), Ethiopian, Kenyan, Greek, Chinese, English, Mexican (authentic truck and Americanized), Italian (pizza and fine dining), Caribbean, Japanese, dim sum, Hawaiian/Korean, Southern, BBQ, vegan, and Mediterranean. Do you need more options?

There's a whole foods-like grocery store in the neighborhood called PCC. It's a 10-minute walk away, and it's my favorite place in the world. It's new, and it's beautiful. Go shopping to experience Seattle organic hipstery at its finest. Make sure you get the Ellenos yogurt. It's local to Seattle (and somewhere in Australia), so you won't have the opportunity anywhere else.

Columbia City isn't known for its night life, but it has The Royal Room, Rumba Notes lounge, and The Columbia City Theater for live music and occasional burlesque shows. The bourbon bar also usually has karaoke on Wednesdays, and Hillman City down south has karaoke at the Union Bar on some Saturday nights. The neighborhood also has a great farmer's market on Wednesdays May-October. Columbia City Beatwalk is on Sunday nights during the summer. Check it out online.

Getting around

The 7 bus line is a 3-minute walk away, and it drops you off right in front of the Pike Place Market. The light rail is a 15-minute-walk away. Both cost $2.50 for a one-way trip, and the bus wants you to have exact change. You can buy a light-rail ticket with a credit card. There is easy on-street parking by the house with tons of spots available. (We may have a bunch of new construction coming up that'll limit spots, but there is a cross street with a lot of parking too.)

Using the bus or light rail, downtown is about 30-45 minutes away. Driving without traffic is 15-20 minutes.

Car2go is a nice resource if you're heading to the north neighborhoods in Seattle. Some neighborhoods are really annoying to get to (cough Ballard cough), and car2go would be perfect.

Uber and Lyft (apps on your phone) are two great options as well for those times when you've been out and are unable to drive. (Just come back and drink in the 'hood though. We have lots of breweries and bars.)
