Life at the cottage used to be simple. Rent a cabin and spend all day on the water, just coming indoors to sleep. These days it's nice to know that you can still rent a more traditional budget cottage, and get a few extra bells and whistles.
This compact cabin on Beech Lake has three small bedrooms and a newly renovated bathroom, a well-equipped kitchen and a comfortable living room. Outside, the new deck houses a BBQ area and closer to the lake, a patio platform with Muskoka chairs, alongside the fire pit.
You'll enjoy unlimited internet access and a Wii U for added fun. There's no satellite TV but if you have a Netflix account, you can watch movies and shows - while the kids are using the Wii console. In the fall and spring, the propane stove will keep you warm after a day of hiking or canoeing when you curl up for movie night.
For any cottage, the best bit has to be the outside! The lengthy dock lets you get right out into the lake for fishing, while those who want to get on and in the water, there's a canoe and a Lily Pad floating mat for a ton of water play. Sit around the campfire at night and enjoy some s'mores and the twinkly stars.
The Cabin is 30 minutes from Sir Sam's ski area, and just a little more to the Haliburton Forest and Wildlife Preserve. In the fall, take a drive north on Hwy35 to Dorset and the Scenic Lookout - the views are spectacular.
This traditional cabin is perfect for guests who want the cottage country experience without the high fees that go along with fancy appliances and granite countertops. It's a little blast from the past and we think you'll love it.+ More
