Welcome to the Orchard House! This quaint, newly renovated home, is nestled at the edge of a working apple orchard on the outskirts of Damariscotta, the gateway to the Pemaquid Peninsula. The open concept floor plan boasts a living room with many west facing windows with panoramic views of the orchard, nearby Biscay Pond and delightful sunsets. A completely renovated kitchen is equipped with a gas range, microwave and work station and an adjoining dining space with seating for 6-8.
The home has two bedrooms, both with queen size beds. The 'shades of gray' room, with a seaside theme, claims the full size bathroom, while the more spacious eclectic 'blues room' has an attached half bath. The washer and dryer are also in this bathroom.
The home is set well off the main thoroughfare, but is within easy walking distance (down the private gravel driveway) to the swimming beach and public boat and kayak landing at the end of Biscay Pond. It is just 4 miles away from the town of Damariscotta, with shopping, and restaurants and entertainment. Further south lie the coastal attractions of Round Pond, New Harbor, with boat service to the magical island of Monhegan, the Pemaquid Lighthouse and Fort William Henry, plus much more!
The owners do request that clients, interested in renting the home during the months of May through mid-August, please call them directly to discuss the spray regime at this working orchard. During the fall, renters can expect to enjoy the fruits of the harvest out their front door or at the apple stand, where cider is pressed every few days, homemade donuts and bread are delivered biweekly and pastries are baked daily. They may also hear the voices of grade school children walking past, anticipating their first field trip, or hear cars full of apple pickers drive by the home to the Pick Your Own parking on the weekends. The winter months offer ice fishing on the pond, conditions permitting, along with cross country skiing and snowshoeing.
A particularly nice time of the year to be in the area is over the peak foliage Columbus Day Weekend, when Damariscotta hosts Pumpkinfest, an event that has earned national notoriety.+ More
