FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Cell phone service: Cell phone service is generally reliable in the U.P. But, there seems to be one spot next to the Nature Conservancy gate where you may be able to get service. The neighboring cities, Marquette & Munising seem to have reliable cell phone service.
Gazebo: There is a 10x12 foot gazebo with a small solar-powered light.
Grills: There is a Webber charcoal grill, please provide your own charcoal.
Energy: Since the Peter White and Shiras Cabins are powered by solar (with a generator back-up that we try to keep the use at a minimum), we have to be sensitive to the electrical use. No power lines-- just trees and nature..Aaahhh...
Events: We require notification if you will be having an event where more then 13 people will be attending, even for the day. There are concerns regarding the parking (8 cars max-- you'd have to have your guests transported). Also, the concern is the septic system. For more than 13 people, please let us know and we can discuss getting port-a-potties (an additional expense.)
Fire-pit: There is an outdoor fire-pit for your use, we will provide wood.
Fishing: The fishing is great along the Laughing Whitefish River, just outside your cabin door. Bass and pike are the most popular fish in the river.
Phone: Sorry, there is no landline at the cottage.
Privacy: Yes, there are 350 private acres for you and your family to enjoy, on the western edge of the Hiawatha National Forest.
Road: The few mile stretch of road entering the cabin itself is dirt mixed with some gravel. It is not ideal for a motorcycle.
Screened-in Porch: There is a screened-in porch at both cabins.Ideal for those buggy nights.
Swimming Beach: This is a riverfront property, we do not recommend that you swim here being that it is muddy. Lake Superior and inland lakes are a short 10-15 min away, great places to swim!
TV: There is one TV (with a DVD player) in the 2nd bedroom of the main cabin
Washer/Dryer: Sorry, it is on our wish list.
Wi-Fi: We are sorry; there is not Wi-Fi at this time.
