The creative duo behind Kaweah Falls (“A River Runs Through It”, Sunset magazine and HomeAway #388950) are pleased to introduce their newest vacation experience: Sequoia Falls, a zen waterfall retreat tucked away in the scenic Sierra Nevada mountain town of Three Rivers, CA.
This one-of-a-kind riverfront refuge is the ultimate base camp for exploring the Sequoia National Park, Mineral King, and Kings Canyon areas, the ideal meeting place for families and friends, and a creative sanctuary for those seeking inspiration and renewal away from the hassles of the city.
The home is located on a former gathering site of native American Indians, as evidenced by the mortars carved into the granite boulders and the pestle that was found on the property years ago. Today this beautiful spot continues to serve as a communal place for humans to reconnect with nature and each other. Perched above the Kaweah River and floating among a variety of oaks (blue, interior, live, & valley), the home has the feel of a Big Sur-inspired Japanese treehouse.
Sequoia Falls is located 3.5 hours from Los Angeles, 4.5 hours from San Francisco, 70 miles from Fresno Yosemite International Airport, and 2 miles from the entrance to Sequoia National Park.
Sequoia National Park, America’s second oldest national park, is a must do day trip.
No visit is complete without walking among the giant sequoias, including the General Sherman, believed to be the largest (and among the oldest at 2,300–2,700 years) living trees on the planet. Whether you pack your own picnic lunches (or pick them up from our local Yelp-Top 100 rated sandwich shop), having a picnic in Sequoia Park is an unforgettable experience. You can also opt for lunch at the Wuksachi Lodge, located just a few miles past the turn-off for the General Sherman tree.
Once you've walked the trail to the General Sherman tree, hiked the steps to the soaring peak of Moro Rock, explored the Crystal Cave and strolled through Crescent Meadow (and likely spotted black bears grazing), then it's time to come down the mountain where your luxury compound awaits: cook out on the grill, enjoy a nice bottle of wine, and roast S'mores around the campfire. After marveling at all the stars, you can retire to your private, well-appointed suite and let the river lull you into a restful sleep.+ More
