This wonderful home was built by an Episcopal Bishop and sold to an Episcopal priest who came fresh from an English monastery, and has had more than four decades of prayer and quietude in and around it. Quiet, hidden neighborhood that's a 10-min drive to trails on Blue Ridge Parkway, Ridgecrest, Catawba Falls, also near the Veteran's Affairs Hospital. When you book, I email you a list of my favorite local places to hike, visit and eat, both here in Black Mountain and in Asheville. (I'm an NC native.)
You are renting the entire first floor and grounds of Red Cedar Retreat. Should you want more room, the 620 sq. ft. separate penthouse upstairs can be rented also. Discounts apply based on how long you want to rent both units.
With a loving heart, I bought and began updating this home in December, 2016. The back yard borders another 12 acres of woods, enhancing the feeling of being "way out" while being close in.
SOUNDS: Birds you’ll hear, and possibly see, include: Pileated woodpecker nesting in front yard, screech owl nesting in back woods, Great Blue Heron flying to the neighborhood pond, black-capped chickadee, tufted titmouse, Eastern Phoebe and song sparrows singing around the house, Goldfinch, so many more!
NATURE: Walk barefoot out the front door to the moss-filled meditation path in front, or sit by the babbling fishpond.
EXERCISE: Kick around a soccer ball or throw horseshoes in back. Use our Cruiser bicycles (one speed) to cycle 2 miles to downtown Black Mountain via the local Community Garden which connects to the Black Mountain Greenway.
SECURE: Our quiet street is a short neighborhood road with few houses on it, and extremely safe ( Black Mountain is one of the safest towns in the country, per a recent study.)+ More
