(Please note, this is a yurt, not a cabin.) Relax in the circular comfort of the yurt on a small working farm. Nestled into the edge of the woods a 1/4 mile off the main road, enjoy country quiet and easy access to the beautiful Finger Lakes. Inside, the ambience is cozy, clean, comfortable, and authentically rustic. Outside, take a walk through the gardens, or relax watching the sun set, swinging in a hammock or by the warmth of an evening bonfire (marshmallows not provided).
Enjoy quiet time lounging inside or sprawl out on the deck with a great view of the farm and an amazing sunset spot. There is one queen bed in the loft with a window to the sky, and a convertible queen-sized futon in the main living space. There's a full bathroom along with a changing room/closet to store your things.
The kitchen has basic pots, pans, dishes, cups, oil, spices, a french press (with instructions) and locally roasted organic coffee ready for your use. The flowers and herb gardens just outside the door offer cooking herbs for picking. There is a charcoal grill and outdoor furniture for summer cookouts, and a small fire pit among the trees (wood provided). Inside, there's a small wood stove seasonally available (wood and instructions provided) and a propane heater for chilly nights.
A Local Foods Breakfast Package is available upon request, for an additional fee. Breakfast items include harvests from our own Wellspring Forest Farm maple syrup, fresh mushrooms, and duck eggs, plus seasonal tastes from the region (most made within 8 miles of here!); artisan bread and granola from Wide Awake Bakery, Black Pearl Creamery sheep's yogurt, Cayuta Sun pasture bacon and sausage. Contact us for more details or visit our Farm's site. (Note: 24 - 48hrs advanced booking is needed to accommodate some of the food options).
You are welcome to walk our woods, gardens and fields. We provide a walking map of our land. The yurt is nestled in the woods at Wellspring Forest Farm, a small diversified operation that produces mushrooms, maple syrup, elderberry extract, duck eggs, and grazes sheep and ducks. Because this is a working farm, the white fences surrounding the animals are electrified. We ask that children are supervised at all times. There are two dogs on the property as well. Both are extremely friendly and loving, though the white dog, Sadie, will only approach you if she wants to say hi. Do not approach her. We are available to give tours of the farm if arranged prior to your visit for an additional fee.
One dog is allowed by owner permission only, for an extra cleaning fee, and must be kept on leash at all times outside the yurt.
We are located just 12 miles from Ithaca, 12 miles from Watkins Glen, and 8 miles Trumansburg, NY, a perfect jumping off point for the wine, beer or cheese trails, waterfall hikes, restaurant outings, graduation weekend events, the Ithaca Farmers Market and more!
We share our private road with 2 other houses. Upon arrival, we'll show you a map of the neighborhood. You're welcome to walk our property, but ask that you respect the privacy of our very friendly neighbors and do not swim in the ponds.
We've left a helpful guide to the region for you to peruse during your stay including restaurant info, hikes, swimming spots and more! We can also send you this info once you book, if you'd prefer.+ More
