Galiano, British Columbia
The beautiful island of Galiano - named by Spanish Explorer Dionisio Alcala Galiano - is one of the Southern Gulf Islands. It rests on the Strait of Georgia, close to the islands of Mayne and Valdes, between Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland South Coast of British Columbia. Its population is estimated at around 1000.
There's lots to do in Galiano Island: art galleries, inns, small resorts, spas, bed-and-breakfasts, great shopping, fine restaurants, scuba diving, kayaking, boating, hiking, golf, and more!
If you'd like to go camping, check out Montague Harbour Marine Provincial Park - to which you can travel by ferry or boat. There are lovely beaches there, and a marina nearby where you can by anything you need.
To get some great photos of the island and beyond, check out Mount Galiano and Bodega Ridge.
