Rocky Mountains, Alberta

The Rocky Mountains are located in western North America - among the Canadian provinces of British Columbia and Alberta, and the US states of Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico. The Rockies are best known for their sublime beauty and high peaks - the highest peak being Mount Elbro in Colorado, at 14,440 feet above sea level.

The Rocky Mountains are celebrated not only for their breathtaking beauty, but also for the water they generate from snowmelt and runoff, which supplies drinking water to a quarter of the US, and feeds surrounding bodies of water - which ultimately drain into the Atlantic, Pacific and Arctic Oceans.

The Rocky Mountains also provide valuable natural resources that support a booming economy: copper, gold, lead, silver, coal, natural gas, and petroleum are all found in the Rockies. Forestry and agriculture industries also thrive in the region.

Come to the Rocky Mountains for the mesmerizing scenery, the skiing, hiking, camping, incredible parks, and countless more tourist attractions. Specifically, parks in the US include Pikes Peak, Royal Gorge, Rocky Mountain National Park, Sawtooth National Recreation Area, Yellowstone National Park, Glacier National Park, and the Grand Teton National Park.

In Canada the famous Banff National Park is a must-see. There's also Jasper National Park, Kootenay National Park, Waterton Lakes National Park and Yoho National Park.
