Best Family Bonding Vacation Ever!
Nancy and the Calhoun's were great hosts. They are such a nice family and so attentive to our needs. Mr. Calhoun was the cutest thing riding around on his ATV checking on us each day and making sure we were comfortable and enjoying our stay. The property is absolutely beautiful! There are trails for hiking/walking, woods for exploring, pond for fishing, river for viewing, streams for playing, lightning bugs to watch and catch, earth worms to dig and then fish with, flora and fauna to admire, fruit trees and berry bushes galore on the property, gardens, bon fire pits, charcoal grills, and did I mention 90 acres of pure serenity, peace and quiet! My kids really enjoyed running all about the property and exploring from sun up to sun down. The cottage has a TV with a DVD player, movies, a PlayStation with games, card games, board games and the Calhoun's even brought us Corn Hole, Horse Shoes, and Ladder Ball to play outside. I don't my kids picked up their tablets or phones the whole time we there. The cottage does not have cable TV or internet WIFI, but the Calhoun's offered to let us come to one of their other homes on the property to access both of these if we needed. Nancy explained to us that the house was her father's birthplace and that she remodeled it and decorated it herself just a year ago. We were the first renters to enjoy the space. I can say that Nancy has does done a good job with the house. It was so cute and cozy with plenty of room for all 8 of us in our party to spread out and still enjoy the close unity of a family. I would definitely stay here again and in fact we had such a good time that the family wants to make it a tradition to visit at least once a year. The Calhoun's also have a Christmas Tree Farm on the property and we are planning a trip back up in November to pick out a tree for Christmas. If you want to get out of the rat race and back to mother nature then this is the perfect place for you!
