Wonderful stay when we arrived we were greeted not only by our hosts but by two great horned owls, perched on the tree just in front of the cottage. Peaceful Haven is the image that symbolizes the best the cottage. We spent Christmas there and it was magical, it snowed at the high elevations on Christmas Eve and from the kitchen window, with the bare trees, we could see the top of the mountains covered in white (no snow in Mc Neal). During our stay, we visited the Whitewater Draw Wildlife Area (next Door). Went around 6:30 a.m. and came back to the cottage for breakfast. We went to Ramsey Canyon, 1 hour away (highly recommended) and to different places in the San Pedro Riparian Conservation Area (also highly recommended) . Because we visited in winter , we were able to enjoy the long evenings in the cottage. On the practical side, everything you needed was there (from the bread toaster to the corkscrew...) in perfect functioning order. What made our stay also magical were our hosts: available if you needed anything while respectful of our space. My husband and I who usually are more of the lone wolf type, were both amazed by their warmth and kindness. I really think their welcome and the care they give to the cottage really create the base for a beautiful experience. I completely concur with the other reviews, yes , the cottage is rustic, charming and has character. It was extremely clean and exceeded our expectations. I would not hesitate to recommend it to our friends our family. Now, I really hope we can come back and discover the cottage and the region at different seasons...
