Nicer than the majority of NYC hotels
We stayed in this Flatbush jewel the second week of December. The property has been gutted and completely, tastefully renovated. I was impressed with the quality of the work. It is prettier and roomier than the photos indicate. The hostess lives downstairs and is delightful. She has seen to every detail like fluffy towels, nice soaps, extra pillows. We have two college aged children who definitely don't want to share a double bed with anyone, so having four beds was fabulous. The mattresses are great quality which is important to me, as I have hip issues when I sleep on a poor mattress. The kitchen was well stocked and the appliances brand new. Everything was spotless. We absolutely loved the apartment and would recommend it highly. The apartment is about two blocks from the subway station, which is perfect after a long day of playing tourist. The 2 and 5 run into the city, about a 40 min. run to Times Square or Grand Central. My only hesitation (and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5) is that it is a little sketchy coming in on the subway late at night. This Caribbean neighborhood is definitely in transition and will be really hopping in another couple of years, but for now, I would not feel comfortable walking back from the subway in the dark with only women. We didn't have a problem as a family and there's certainly no issues in the daylight, but at night it is uncomfortable. Once you get to the apartment, you must go through three locked doors to get in, so security there is great. One could certainly skip the subway at night and use Uber or Lyft. We would definitely stay here again. It met our needs, the location was acceptable, the owners were easy to work with, the price is reasonable, and the unit is beautiful and clean with great beds! It beats an overpriced, dirty Manhattan hotel room any day of the week! We highly recommend it.
