Unbelievably beautiful, peaceful, country retreat.
As two mature professionals, my husband and I were looking for a place for some R&R and we chose LIGARA farm. It turned out to be the perfect choice. From our first conversation, Theresa was friendly and welcoming. Upon arrival, we felt like we were visiting a longtime friend. The property was immaculately groomed. The guest house sits surrounded by paddocks where Theresa's horses peacefully graze. It is beautifully decorated. The kitchen area has enough counter space for meal prep and a breakfast bar with two stools. There is a cozy sitting area to watch TV or listen to music and at the top of the spiral staircase is a loft bedroom with a very open and airy feeling. I fell asleep with a view of the night sky and, being an early riser, I was able to see sunrise from the bed. When we arrived, there were fresh cut flowers to greet us and eggs in the fridge gathered that morning from Theresa's hens. Four sweet, friendly dogs and a shy potbellied pig visited daily. (We couldn't resist giving them approved treats!). We lounged in the private pool that was right outside our door and sunned in the 'sit-out' area in the pool. I enjoyed reading on the covered side patio with a ceiling fan creating a breeze. The outdoor fireplace made us almost wish for a cool evening so to enjoy a fire. One of the things we both liked doing in the morning was visiting each of the horses who loved receiving treats and attention. The nearby charming town of Aiken provided attractions from historic to artistic and we cooled off after some sightseeing with a leisurely lunch in the grand old Willcox Hotel. We would recommend this getaway to anyone who loves pastoral surroundings AND modern upscale accomadations. We look forward to returning!!
