Cute place for a short stay
The good: This place was cute inside. It had what I needed for my stay. Clean bed, towels, sheets. There is a private kitchen and bathroom. The place is quite most nights and you do have self check in so that was nice. And it was affordable for the area. The Bad: I wouldn't really call it a Beautiful Private Garden...more of over grown weeds. I think some TLC is needed for the "garden" and the entrance gate. At first sight the place was clean when I got there but then I noticed there was black mold growing on the ceiling next to the vent and along the floor boards in the bedroom which I cleaned up my first night. This needs some attention. The mold on the ceiling was growing back when I left. The block this house is on is clean but once you get to the end of the block, on either end, the surrounding area is definitely a bit sketchy. I walked to work a couple of days just to see how far the Bart was and to check out the area... It took me about 20 mins to get to 19th street Bart. Walking down W. Grand Ave.. the same going down Telegraph. Once you pass/or go down Telegraph the area is pretty cool but You have to go under the freeway and there is a stretch from the house to the freeway that's sketchy... Going down San Pablo was shorter but more homeless people camping out so I avoided that route. Explore the area, just proceed with caution. Lastly, This was my bad, I left my keys at my in-laws during a weekend visit and had no way to get into the unit. I called the number for the contact and never received a call back. I ended up getting a hotel for the two nights I was locked out. (My in-laws overnighted my keys) Kind of a bummer having to spend extra money but it happens. The listing did say, "There will be no interaction with hosts unless need." I suppose it wasn't considered needed in this situation. Over all it was okay. Not bad for a short business trip.
