A Dog's Dream Home
This property is a real gem! Our traveling companions, an 8-month old German Shepherd and a 12-year old border collie mix, whole-heartedly approved of the house and its surroundings. With a deck that extends the entire circumference of the house, they had free range to watch everything going on, from the horse-back riders who passed by to the clam diggers at low tide. Since the house is relatively remote, they could run on the beach, chasing sandpipers and playing with other dogs. For a change of scenery, there are miles of sandy roads to explore and, of course, more people and canines to meet. Never a dull moment from the dogs' viewpoints. Although the house itself has everything needed for a great getaway, it is the property itself that outshines anywhere we have previously stayed in the area. The gazebo, although unnecessary during our stay, would be a wonderful place to enjoy dinner or to escape the bugs during the summer months. We used the fire pit one evening while entertaining friends who live in the area, and it proved to be ideal. It is surrounded by stone pavers and is perfectly safe when used on a calm day. The grill next to it grilled our steaks to perfection, while the oven in the house cooked the clams we gleaned from the beach just yards from our back door. (Remember to get a NC fishing license if you plan to clam or crab or fish on the beach. The fine for not having one can be quite hefty.) This property is definitely the place to vacation if you want to enjoy the full natural beauty of the Lowcountry!
