All you need...
Cute little cabin, well decorated, all you need for a short getaway. At first glance you can't tell if this place is 100 yrs old or 15. We came up on a last minute change of plans since it was going to be too hot at the beach. Property is nice and secluded (you can sort of see the neighbor's driveway across the gulch, but not their house). The advice of 4wd or at least truck/SUV of sort to get up the steep driveway is helpful. I have a truck so it was no problem. Owner mentions exploring the property, but wasn't sure how far 10 acres goes since most of it goes straight up. A little search on Zillow shows that it goes up and over the top of the ridge and back down to the small creek that borders Powderhorn Mtn. The creek across the road is nice, but not sure if the state fishing easement signs trump individual posted signs so we just went down to the bridge and accessed the creek from there. We didn't get a chance to eat at Buffalo Mercantile, but will try next time. Elk Creek road is a nice little valley, it was a 23 minute drive up to old 421 to make our way back into Boone. I would suggest mentioning that Elk Creek Rd. is marked as Triplett Rd. down in Buffalo Cove- I missed it the first time and went a few miles further before I realized that was the turn I wanted. Since you're in a valley GPS/cell won't work so print out directions first. Great cabin for the price!
