Sandhill Crane Cottage is an excellent stay
I visited the Sandhill Crane Cottage with my 16 year old son and we both found it to be an excellent property. The cottage is just as you see in the pictures. It is charming and very comfortable. The bed was toasty warm due to the electric bed warmer! I hated to get out of it early in the morning but I also wanted to see the cranes take off at sunrise. The kitchen is nicely appointed with basics and Peggy had a few items in the fridge for us too! The shower is beautifully tiled. The bathroom itself is comfortable for one at a time to get ready. The bed was very comfortable and the bedding very cozy. With low temperatures it was also toasty warm due to the electric bed warmer! I hated to get out of it early in the morning but I also wanted to see the cranes take off at sunrise. The grounds are lovely to explore and the owl that was perched in the treee right outside the cottage or even right on the ground just feet from the window was memorable. Just outside the bedroom door there is a hammock for lazing and that was very nice. Peggy is a kind and gracious hostess possessing just the right balance of availability and interaction while still giving you space and distance to explore the grounds. She seemed to have a sense of when to be available for questions about directions and nearby towns. Bisbee is less than a half an hour away and makes for a fun day trip exploring shops and having lunch. White Water Draw is minutes away and the cranes are amazing to hear and see. This is a rural setting but that is part of the charm and setting of southern Arizona. I woud recommend this property for those who would like a little quiet getaway. There are nearby things to do but also plenty of space and quiet to relax and unwind.
