My expectations were too high but the kids loved it!
My husband, two daughters (ages 2 and 15) and I spent a week at the Webb’s house. We were looking for a central location with plenty of room to spread out and loads of amenities--during Comic-Con. I say this to establish that I am a woman with lofty expectations. The house was a little expensive for a single family but, based on the pictures and description, the price seemed reasonable. The house was spacious and the we couldn’t have asked for a better location. The house has excellent potential but is presently a work in progress. In its current state, the house did not live up to my expectations. Large portions of the house are still under renovation—missing molding, exposed sheetrock, dank smell, etc. Also, despite being spacious, the house was very cluttered. My family has rented several VRBO properties. This was my first experience renting a part-time residence versus a dedicated a vacation rental. The house had virtually no storage because the owner’s belongings were stuffed in every nook and cranny. Between the clutter and the incomplete renovations, I was a little disappointed. That said, my undiscerning children absolutely loved the property! My two-year old constantly puts on her bathing suit (and rain boots?) and asks to go back to her “vacation home”. She loved the chickens and neighborhood cats, the fruit trees in the yard, the outside television, everything! This was our third VRBO rental in 2012 and, by far, her favorite. With different expectations, I may have liked it too. I must add, the Webb’s were excellent to work with. Lesley was very responsive and answered my hundreds of questions.
