Very nice house with great views of the sunsets, stars at night, Honolulu lights, Makapuu.
Hate to say this, because it may mean the house is rented the next time we want to stay there, but we had a great time here. The house was very clean, and comfortable. It was quiet and the views were amazing. The first night the stars were spectacular, after we had watched a wondrous sunset from the lanai. Then when it got darker, we could see the lights of Honolulu and Makapuu. It was just a few miles to a very cozy cove with good swimming. Being on the west side meant driving to town, but it's not too far and the drive was scenic and beautiful. We were able to see all that we wanted to and enjoy going home to a comfortable house with time to spare. The island and its people have so much aloha. The owners live on the property and were very helpful and gave us great suggestions for places to eat. Paddlers was quite enjoyable and David's was onolicious. I would like to bring the kids and grandkids for a vacation. We would be 11, but 3 are little and would survive on pads. There are beds for 8 and an inviting sofa. Kalaupapa is a must, via mule tour or air or hike. Halawa Valley was also beautiful with a beautiful beach, though the water is rough in winter.
