Beautiful house and great location
I stayed at this beautiful house with my little dog in July, and it was a great vacation! We both enjoyed every day of it. The house is truly unique and stylish, just like pictures show, yet very cozy and exceptionally clean. It has everything you need, the owners even provided the beach towels. The backyard is huge and has 3 patios: a wooden deck with sofa and recliners right outside the bedroom, a covered patio with table and barbecue, and a nice rest area next to a huge fireplace, plus a pretty fontaine. We spent most of the time in the backyard, it was so relaxing. The owners, Kris and Francisco, were very friendly and nonintrusive, it was a pleasure to deal with them. Francisco greeted us, showed around the house and left, the rest of our vacation we were alone, and nobody bothered us. Also, the backyard has a tall fence with trees and bushes, very private. The location is great, too: very quiet good neighborhood, with quite a few parks around, we particularly loved Marina del Rey park, it's called Burton Chace Park, overlooking marina and yachts. The beach is close, not in a walking distance though, you do need a car to get to the beach, it's about 10 minutes drive. But you have a choice of 2 beaches: Venice beach to the north from Marina del Rey and Dockweiler beach to the south. Venice beach is more "civilized": there are places to eat, shop, it has a beach promenade, a peer, etc.. But it's pretty crowded, even on weekdays, parking is expensive, plus all the traffic on Washington Blvd. Dockweiler beach is more like a "wild" beach: there is nothing there, just sand and water. But you get there via beautiful Vista del Mar, there is plenty of free parking all along Vista del Mar and the beach is basically empty, especially on weekdays. Since I was with a dog, that's what I needed: a wild beach with no people or lifeguards around, lol. Another attraction of Dockweiler is that there is LAX right behind you and you can watch all these jets taking off, lots of fun. Our agenda was a beach and long walks in the coastal parks, not a nightlife or eating out, but if you are into that I am sure you can find a lot of nice restaurants around Marina del Rey and Venice Beach. Besides, 10 minute drive along Vista del Mar will get you right into Manhattan Beach, and if you bother to go 10 minutes further, there is Hermosa Beach. A very nice house in a good location. I will definitely book again, my big thanks to Kris and Francisco for this great holiday!
