Good stay at Michelle's apartment
I had a good stay at Michelle's apartment. I was there for more than a month and found it a convenient, nice place to stay in Santa Monica. The apartment itself is well-decorated and spacious and cute and quite comfortable. It could have been better cared for, though - upon my arrival the floor was pretty sticky as were almost all the dishes/pots/pans/utensils I found in the kitchen. I found the whole place needed a good vacuuming too. There was also a little mildew growing on the shower curtain, lots of dust on the window sills, etc. If you aren't someone who cares a huge amount about the little details, this apartment would be perfect, and even for me (someone who's OCD about cleanliness), it was pretty good. Decently comfortable bed, but could have used much comfier/cozier blankets and nicer sheets. And if you are a light sleeper, beware that there is a group of very loud crows that LOVE to come hang out on the wires directly outside the bedroom window, and every Thursday morning the garbage trucks come rolling in (3 rounds of them) very loudly at about 7am right next to your head where you're sleeping. There are also dogs barking, some chickens right across the alley from the bedroom, and lots of general commotion around (lots of neighbors surrounding), so I found it hard to sleep many mornings. Only other thing I would mention, and this is not Michelle's fault at all, but the neighbors nextdoor in the same little apartment unit always had their front door wide open and were often out on the little shared balcony. I felt a little bit in their space and awkward being there, especially walking past their wide open door all the time. Maybe I'm sensitive but it was a little weird to me. In any case, it's a good little apartment, and you're paying for an excellent location, just be prepared to maybe need earplugs and need to do a bit of cleaning yourself.
