Summer Staycation
We decided this year to stay close to Manhattan - drivable distance but wanted the countryside for our 6 weeks. This house was everything we wanted and more - the setting is beautiful, the house immaculate and the proximity to great restaurants, lots of activities and events (like BBQ & Lobster suppers at local churches, wine festivals, book signings, antique galleries, amusement parks, museums, country fairs) were so plentiful we had a hard time deciding what to do. Very bright with lots of sun - we looked out to greenery from every window - there were games for the kids including croquet, badminton, horseshoes, bikes and we hiked a lot - the air is so clean and fresh that we left the windows open and hardly turned on the AC. The kitchen was a dream - every appliance and all the cooking stuff you could possibly use - some of it I wasn't sure what to do with! There were loads of cookbooks too! The music and reading library were extensive - TV reception and cell phone reception great and the ability to dial anywhere in the US without worrying about extra charges was a nice plus. The outdoor grill (Weber - brand new) and seating for about 10 people allowed us to have a few friends join us a couple of weekends. We truly loved this location - Roxbury is just gorgeous - the quintessential New England town with churches, town green, small country store and a gas station out of the 1950's. Maple Bank Farm has an outrageous farm stand with everthing including flowers and fresh cheese. Our kids loved the lambs and the scottish cows. We would highly recommend this house - it has everything.
