Nice place...just be aware of the drawbacks
My wife and family stayed here on a family visit to see my oldest daughter who is starting to attend NAU. While the cabin was generally clean and it has many nice features and curb appeal, there were a couple of things that annoyed us. We eventually decided to leave a day early. I travel for my career and can sleep on just about any type of bed without any issues. Unfortunately, this cabin has a very uncomfortable bed that felt worn out and was trying to be disguised with a foam top pad. Ultimately, there was a very noticeable sag in the middle of the mattress and I didn't get a good night's sleep during the entire stay. My wife also slept poorly during our visit. The second major drawback for us during out stay was the wifi didn't work. When I contacted the property owner his suggestion was to drive into Flagstaff and "borrow" a wifi signal from Barnes and Noble or a Starbucks. He said he was aware of the problem and "probably should come up and look into it." He stated he talked to the internet provider and everything seemed to be working from provider's end of things when they pinged the modem. My hunch is the modem needs replacing which is a 10 minute fix. Although we were on vacation, too many situations kept coming up from my workplace and I wanted to take care of them after my family went to bed in evenings. To drive back into Flagstaff was not a pleasant solution. The two frustrations mentioned above were the main reasons for us leaving early. Still, for future renters, I would just let you know the overall "first impressions" didn't set well with us either. The instructions on the counter asked us not to use any of the base-board heaters as they would blow a fuse. One would think we wouldn't need heat in August but we had cool temperatures during our visit and the evenings cooled off significantly. There were also a few outlets that didn't work. Ultimately, it really made me wonder what kind of craftsmanship was used. As you drive up and open the door, the cabin looks very nice...but the more you experience the cabin, the more you wonder. Was really hoping for a great experience as my daughter will be at NAU for at least 4 more years and would like to have a place we could book routinely for our visits. Overall...an okay stay but definitely not 4 or 5 star worthy.
