Secluded, Serene, Scenic, Immense Value - Highly reccomend ( From a very well-traveled couple)
First off - the owners are kindly accommodating and fluidly communicative. In my experience with VRBO and air b & b, Ive learned that the people that own the place you intend to rent are the first step in your vacation and when they are as lovely as these owners, you are off to a great start indeed. In regards to the cottage itself , the pictures do not lie. It is in fact far more charming, secluded, and cozy than the pics suggest. If in any way the pictures did portray it with any inaccuracies, it was only to our pleasant surprise. We had no idea that when we sat out on the sprawling deck at the rear, you are literally OVER the water. As you sit in the Adirondack chairs sipping a cocktail, reading a book, fishing, or grilling with the sun on your back, you can literally hear the water lapping on the stony shore of the lazy lake just beneath you. Another aspect that we were pleasantly surprised by is just how secluded it was from the neighboring house ( only one house at the rear) with a vibrant procession of singing birds and water fowl, and teams of freshwater fishes swimming by. A truly wonderful space to both entertain your company and daydream away your day alike. The inside is just as you'd hope an up-north lake cottage would be: Clean, well-lit, cheery, and breezy with plenty of windows and sliding glass access to remind you of the beautiful ecosystem you're in even while indoors. The location is superb. If you're using it simply as a place to have a "staycation" it is perfect. The cottage is hard to want to leave but if you do find an impulse to peel yourself from its tranquility, the little sailing town of Pentwater (which is a short bike ride away) has all you need to make an excuse to stay local: scenery and sunsets, the cobalt blue, inviting waters of Lake Michigan and its sugar sand beaches, navigable access from Pentwater Lake, charming restaurants, shops, and friendly Michiganders :) If you merely want to use the cottage as an access hub as my wife and I did a majority of the time, you are literally on the doorsteps of some of the most scenic and adventure worthy terrain in this whole country (see: the world renowned Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore, Leelanau's wine country, the sparse and stunning Manitou Islands, and the several crystal clear glacial- melt inland lakes on the short drive along the coast to those destinations) In short, do I recommend this place? HELL YES. J. & H. - Chicago, IL
