Great Place to Stay Close to Everything in Baltimore
This is a nicely furnished, well appointed row house in the Hampden area of Baltimore. The house is your typical Baltimore row house - narrow and vertical, with living room, kitchen and eating area on first floor, bathroom and two small kids bedrooms on the second floor and a large master bedroom and bathroom on the top floor. The place was clean and everything functioned well. It was really hot while we were there (in the 90's with high humidity) and the air conditioning worked well. You may want to set the thermostat, which is on the first floor, at a lower temperature in order to get your comfortable temp in the master bedroom on the third floor - and set the fan to "on" rather than "auto". The owner, Beth, was out of town while we were there, but she communicated very well by e-mail before our stay, sending some very helpful information about the house, the neighborhood and Baltimore before our visit. We had no problems while we were there. The neighborhood was great. We felt safe and the "Avenue" (36th Street) filled with interesting shops and great restaurants was just a few blocks away. Parking is on the street and there are no parking restrictions in the neighborhood. When returning to the house late at night we did have to search a little for a parking spot - but always found one within a block or so of the house. The layout of the house does require a fair amount of up and down stairs - but if you are reasonably fit, it shouldn't be a problem - just some good exercise. The house is literally filled with interesting books. My wife spent time looking through them and made a list of the ones she wanted to follow up on later. We used to live in Baltimore 30 years ago and the main purpose of our trip was to visit with old friends and revisit our favorite places in town. The house and location worked out perfectly for our visit. We would definitely stay here again.
