Lovely weekend but too short!
We arrived to the home mid-afternoon Saturday after wine tasting in Carneros & Sonoma (a 30 min drive). The home felt like we were very secluded, in fact one road to the home was off the beaten path, but when we went to Trader Joe's, we saw that we were only a few miles to civilization! When we were settling in after the grocery run, we were treated to a flock of wild turkeys strolling through the front yard! The house was clean and well stocked with quality kitchen tools, linens, appliances and grill. We chose this location because it was close to a half marathon run a family member was going to run. That plan was thwarted by an injury but we still used the time as a family get-together and just being together meant a lot. The house was conducive to just that. We really enjoyed the bottle of wine Inger left for us! Cooking together without crowding in the kitchen, good conversations, good wine, comfortable seating, lots of laughs. On Sunday, we hiked in the nearby state park then went wine tasting in Santa Rosa-Matanza's-highly recommend-then Paradise Ridge (the girls shared a bottle of wine overlooking the valley). Monday morning, we headed to the airport. I do not feel we had enough time to take in all the local offerings but will visit again. Inger was proactive in giving us the necessary details for the home and made it easy to get in touch if we had any needs. She was more accessible than other VRBO owners we have used in the past (but there were no needs-everything was in working order-and I would highly recommend this home.
