Charming, unique, perfect getaway to observe the Sandhill Cranes in the Whitewater Draw Arizona
My husband and I had longed wished to observe the Sandhill Cranes who migrate to SE Arizona in the thousands annually. We found the perfect location, smack-dab in the Whitewater Draw Wildlife Area, a grasslands/wetlands area in SE AZ near Bisbee. Although we went at the end of February at the end of the period of the highest population of the cranes, we were able to enjoy them in the thousands in the early morning and other points during the day. This lovely cottage is unique, and the hosts Peggy and Joe go out of their way to provide little comforts and details to make you comfortable during your stay. Peggy and Joe helped to provide a lot of information about the area and the local birds and other wildlife. From outside the cottage we could observe various desert birds, including great horned owls and desert cardinals..We loved our visit here, very comfortable and yet unique. It's close enough to Bisbee if you want a night out, yet so peaceful and remote that the brightness of the night stars will keep you transfixed if you are paying attention. This cottage is a jewel, we hope to return in the future.
