Wonderful 2-week stay over the holidays
My husband and I spent 2 wonderful weeks over the winter holidays at Sue's cabin in Cascabel. From the get-go, Sue was quite upfront about how "rustic" the cabin is, so we went prepared with outdoor clothing, survival gear for hiking, and games to keep us entertained at night. We felt the cabin was all it is said to be on this website, and more. I have Verizon, and I was able to get cell coverage at the Community Center about a quarter of the mile down the road...no that I really wanted to be in touch with the outside world when in God's country! Sue, the owner, was an exceptional hostess. We were invited to the Community Center's Christmas party, which got us connected to several people in the community. We had the pleasure of really feeling like we were a part of Cascabel, a quirky, genuinely lovely group of people that welcomed us with curiosity and open arms. We enjoyed the peace and solitude of being so far away from the hustle and bustle. I would recommend this property to family or friends... In fact, my parents are thinking of going in the near future! I recommend asking Sue about great hikes in the area. She has a nice picture book that she created that takes you to a beautiful rock structure, and she pointed us in the direction of several other beautiful landmarks. A little farther away, we enjoyed an excursion to Bisbee. We also liked driving through Remington Pass, which seems like it should be a shortcut to Tucson, but the road is so "primitive" that it took 3 hours! It was well worth it, because the views were spectacular. Highly recommended for people who want adventure combined with a respite from the distractions of the modern world.
