Excellent home base for exploring the Lassen area
There's a surprising amount of room in this Old Station cottage. When we arrived and settled in, Judy stopped by to say hello and make sure we had everything we needed. JJ's Cafe, a gas station, Hat Creek Rim scenic viewpoint, and the Old Station information center are all a stone's throw away. Approximately 20 minutes drive to Lassen Volcanic National Park's Manzanita Lake entrance. Old Station is also well-situated to access the northeast area of the park (Butte Lake), being very close to the 44/89 junction. We used the grill for dinner one night and ate at the picnic table out back. The location was perfect for exploring the area and was a comfortable (and quiet!) place to return to in the evening. Be sure to check out nearby Subway Caves.
