Just what we needed!
Our vacation plan was to split our stay between the country and city experience. Cottage Lake was our "country" stay. We had a late arrival and our gracious hosts waited up for us to make sure we were welcomed properly. Arriving at night, we really could not appreciate the surrounding grounds. But what a lovely site to wake up to the next morning! The grounds were the main highlight and seeing the morning misty fog hover over the lake while a quiet fisherman trolls was a scene we will never forget. Breakfast in a basket each morning was a delight! Should you decide this is the place for you, being a dog lover helps. Harley welcomed us and quietly sat on the deck hoping for a dropped morsel. The location is close to wineries, hiking and small towns but close enough to catch the main freeway if you are metro bound. Honestly, we wish we just would have stayed here the whole time rather than trying to capture the city experience. We slowly unwound to a point of true relaxation, only to get wound up again by making a move to our accommodations in the city. Sharing a bathroom with those staying in the tree house was not my preference, however we were flexible and it was never an issue. We would go back to Cottage Lake for sure!
