Here's the thing - even with pictures, maps and reviews, you never REALLY know what you're getting until you drive up to the front door, right? Camera angles make horrible places look great and maps really don't tell you the picture of the neighborhood or view. Also, all reviewers are not the same, right? No offense, but someone who lives outside of So CA might be amazed by anything in the area we call home! We live in Orange County, have traveled the world and have stayed in some truly amazing places. Here's what I have to say about this property - WOW!!!! The pictures do not do it justice and saying the owner is "responsive" and a "great host" pales in comparison to reality (we told her we broke two wine glasses and her response was 'no problem...I do it all the time!')! This is a BEAUTIFUL home with the most amazing layout, attention to detail, views and location. Lake views - YES, plus the country club, mountains and more! All the amenities of a 5-star resort - YES! Close to Lake Arrowhead and the village - YES...but not "too close" if you know what I mean. While it may not be the cheapest, it is worth it. This will be our exclusive go-to property in Arrowhead and quite frankly, it's so nice I can't believe they rent it out! Now, just to bring reality to this review, the ONLY negative to be aware of....the "approach" to the property. The physical address brings you into the "lower" entrance and driveway - which is a goat trail! If you drive anything other than a compact car, don't even try going up it or think you can turn around at the top to go back down! When it's snowing, I couldn't even imagine trying it. So, the "upper" entrance takes you to the front door and garage. While it's mostly paved, there's one steep section and one slightly off-road section to consider if the weather is bad. We had a full size 4WD SUV, so it was no problem, but just something to consider. Plenty of street parking down below covers either challenge! This property is in the "1%"...truly amazing and will make you never want to leave! Also, because it is near the country club, there is a great lakeside park within a short walk and it is 15-20 minutes closer when coming up the mountain (door-to-door in an hour from OC!).
