Great Location & pet friendly
Perfectly located just a few walkable blocks to the center of downtown Black Mountain. Off road parking, and a private entrance were very convenient. Our dog enjoyed the fenced back yard, and we enjoyed sitting on our covered patio one rainy morning...drinking coffee and reading. The property is described as having a "kitchenette", which means there is a dorm sized refrigerator, a microwave, a toaster oven, a one burner hot plate, coffee pot. No sink. If you want to do dishes, the bathroom sink must suffice, or you can use the laundry sink in an adjoining basement room. The sofa & chairs are old fashioned rattan ones...the backs of the seats angle backwards making it difficult to get out of easily, and the cushions are very hard & uncomfortable. I ended up sitting on one of the (also hard) bed pillows. The bed was comfortable for one person, but the mattress was so soft that whenever one of us rolled over, the other was awakened by the movement. My husband ended up sleeping on the additional futon sofa in the living room. The bed pillows were super firm...all 4 of them, but since we always bring our own pillows, it wasn't an issue for us. Marion, the homeowner, was very pleasant and welcoming. The bathroom was large, bright and spacious, with plenty of hot water and excellent water pressure. The Wifi signal was strong but the TV was only about 6 channels of basic cable. OK for us because we read at night. Would I stay here again? probably not unless the furniture was upgraded to more comfortable items. But it was OK, and we enjoyed our trip.
