A decent spot in the North End
My wife and I stayed here for four nights in May, and found it to be pretty good. Our first impression wasn't particularly positive - the street and building felt a bit ratty, and the apartment initially underwhelmed. I think that initial impression was unfair, though; the apartment is fairly small but is reasonably nicely appointed and was clean. It grew on me over time. The building seems fairly old, and there are some small weirdnesses that come along with an older building. A few rough edges could be sanded off, but all in all it's not bad. I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet the apartment was - we rarely heard noise from the street or from neighbors. The location is great if your focus is on the North End. Hanover Street and Salem Street are within a couple of blocks, as is the Freedom Trail. It's a bit less convenient to the rest of the city - the T is around half a mile away - but still OK. The owners were responsive and easy to deal with . No complaint there.
